Join LGBT literary salon Polari as it launches into Festival of Love with amorous intent. Sophia Blackwells first poetry collection Into Temptation was published in 2009 and her novel After My Own Heart in 2012. Her poetry has been anthologised by Bloodaxe, Nine Arches and the Emma Press, and she has performed at major festivals such as Latitude and Glastonbury. In 2014 she was named one of the Top Ten Young British Poets You Should Know About. Tonight she performs poems from her new collection The Fire-Eater's Lover, published by Burning Eye. Bringing together scraps of prayers, rejection letters, marriage proposals ands medical questionnaires, The Fire-Eater's Lover is a three-ring circus of illicit passions, moments of joy and love both lost and found. Also featuring this evening are the celebrated words of Chris Neil, Tehmina Kazi, Richard Scott and Susannah Heffernan, with all authors reading from their latest works. For nine years, the London-based LGBT literary salon Polari has showcased the best in emerging and established testimony to queer hearts and lives. Described by the Huffington Post in 2014 as The most exciting literary movement in London... crackling with energy, ideas and excitement, Polari is curated and hosted by author and journalist Paul Burston.
